Beat the Odds: The Power of a Plant-Based Diet for Heart Health

Boosting Health in Alaska with Plant-Based Power

Heart disease is the leading cause of death in the U.S., with one in every five deaths attributed to this condition, according to the CDC. Despite this, many factors contribute to heart health, and adopting a plant-based diet can reduce the risk of heart disease by up to 25%. Regular exercise, stress management, and good sleep practices can further decrease the risk.

In an upcoming episode of Line One, host Dr. Jillian Woodruff will explore the benefits of a plant-based diet and naturopathic medicine. Guests on the show include Dr. Cameron O’Connell, ND, FABNE – a practitioner of naturopathic medicine associated with Coordinates Health Care in Kenai, Copper River, and Yukon River, and Zaneta Stetsunova – a co-founder of Anchorage VegFest and creator of the Sunday Fresh Market at O’Malley in Anchorage.

The episode will feature resources, recommended documentaries, and easy-to-replicate recipes provided by the guests. The live broadcast is scheduled for Wednesday, March 27, 2024 at 10 a.m AKDT with a repeat broadcast at 8 p.m AKDT on the same day.
