The Male Seminary Recreation Center at Cherokee Nation offers free sports leagues for its citizens. Located in Tahlequah, the center, also known as “Markoma,” provides a variety of sports such as volleyball, basketball, pickleball, cornhole and softball. Terry Hooper, the Lead Rec Specialist, welcomes everyone to the center and is happy to see people staying active and healthy.

Apart from sports leagues, the center also offers free gym equipment and fitness classes to Cherokee Nation citizens. Non-citizens can also join by paying a membership fee of $20. The center hosts a senior’s class three days a week where they play chair volleyball. The seniors enjoy the movement and activity and there are plans to expand the class to four days a week.

The Male Seminary Recreation Center is open every day of the week and offers various programs and activities for all age groups and interests. It is located at 1501 Graham Ave in Tahlequah and is open Monday to Thursday from 5 a.m. to 9 p.m., Friday from 5 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday from 8 a.m
