Early Detection and Management of Pre-Diabetes: Empowering Individuals to Reduce Diabetes Risk in Minnesota

Exploring Prediabetes and Your Health – KSTP.com 5 Eyewitness News

Dr. Archelle Georgiou, a health expert from KSTP, shared insights on the importance of early detection and management of pre-diabetes to prevent the onset of diabetes. According to the Minnesota Department of Health, approximately 1.5 million Minnesotans have pre-diabetes, but only one in four are aware that they have it. This means that there are a large number of people at risk of developing diabetes without even knowing it.

However, being diagnosed with pre-diabetes can be a bright side as it gives individuals the opportunity to take proactive steps to reduce the likelihood of it progressing to full-blown diabetes. By raising awareness about this condition and empowering individuals to take control of their health, we can work towards reducing the overall prevalence of diabetes in Minnesota.
