Ferrari Goes Electric: Partnership with SK On Boosts Battery Cell Technology for Upcoming EV Launch

Ferrari and SK On Collaborate to Revolutionize Battery Technology

Ferrari S.p.A., a luxury sports car manufacturer, has entered into a partnership with SK On Co., one of the world’s top electric vehicle battery producers, to enhance battery cell technology innovation. The collaboration aims to support Ferrari’s launch of its first fully electric vehicle next year, which is expected in the final quarter of 2025. To achieve this goal, Ferrari will open a new plant in Maranello, Italy in June to produce electric motors, battery packs, and power inverters. The Italian company plans to transition about 60% of its lineup to be split between fully electric and hybrid cars by 2026.

SK On currently provides batteries for Ferrari’s plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs), and has been supplying cells for models such as the SF90 Stradale, SF90 Spider, 296 GTB, and 296 GTS since 2019. Limited-edition models like the SF90 XX Stradale and SF90 XX Spider from last year are also equipped with batteries supplied by SK On. This partnership solidifies SK On’s position as Ferrari’s main battery supplier for electric vehicles as they work together to drive innovation in leading global battery cell technology.
