Greiner: Thriving Through Challenges in the European Business Landscape

Europe in Focus as Greiner Faces Decrease in Demand

Greiner, an Upper Austrian plastics and foam company, stands out as a beacon of hope for the European business landscape. Despite declining investments and poor mood among companies in recent discussions about Europa and Austria as business locations, Greiner remains committed to Europe and Austria.

Greiner’s CEO, Saori Dubourg, emphasizes the company’s dedication to staying anchored in Europe. The favorable conditions in Austria have made it an ideal location for developing new technologies and products. Despite a difficult year with a 9.1 percent decrease in sales, Greiner’s leadership is optimistic about the future, citing signs of recovery in the packaging sector for the current financial year.

Sustainability is at the forefront of Greiner’s business strategy. The company has recently invested in a Serbian recycling company and aims to achieve the EU’s recycling goals. Greiner is actively engaging with suppliers to meet the requirements of the Supply Chain Act while facing challenges such as workforce shortages. To overcome this hurdle, Greiner is investing in employee training and development with a goal of increasing the proportion of women in management positions to 40 percent by 2030.

Despite challenges ahead, Greiner remains focused on growth and sustainability, viewing the European Green Deal as an opportunity to intensify the economy and create new markets. The company’s workforce increased by 9.3 percent last year, with a slight increase in employees in Austria. Currently, there are 190 vacant positions worldwide, with 60 in Austria.

In conclusion, Greiner stands as a shining example of how businesses can remain committed to Europe and Austria despite challenging times. Its focus on sustainability and circular economy initiatives has positioned it well for long-term success while addressing some of the challenges faced by businesses today such as workforce shortages and supply chain requirements.
