Honoring Exceptional K-6th Grade Mathematics and Science Teachers in Maryland

Public School Teachers in the County Excel in Teaching Math and Science – Conduit Street

The Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE) has announced the six finalists for the 2024 Presidential Awards for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching (PAEMST) for K-6th grade. These exceptional teachers hail from various county public schools, including Washington County Public Schools, Anne Arundel County Public Schools, Baltimore County Public Schools, Queen Anne’s County Public Schools, Howard County Public Schools.

As Interim State Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Carey M. Wright expressed his honor and congratulations to the state finalists. “These finalists represent excellence in teaching and embody the ideals of innovation, dedication, and excellence,” he said. “Their passion for STEAM education is truly inspiring.”

Established in 1983, PAEMST are the most prestigious honors awarded by the United States government specifically for K-12 science, technology, engineering, mathematics, and/or computer science teaching. The award recognizes educators who possess both deep content knowledge of their subjects and the ability to motivate and enable students to succeed in those areas.

The state finalists serve as a model and an inspiration not only to their students but also to fellow teachers.
