Raiders’ 2023 Rushing Champion Josh Jacobs Departs to Packers: Las Vegas Head Coach Antonio Pierce on the Difficulty of Letting Go

Antonio Pierce expresses deep disappointment over Josh Jacobs’ departure: “That really stings”

The departure of NFL’s 2022 rushing champion, Josh Jacobs, from the Raiders to the Packers was a difficult decision for Las Vegas head coach Antonio Pierce. Despite being disappointed at losing such a valuable player, Pierce understood that decisions in the NFL often come down to business.

Jacobs had a strong connection to the Raiders and was considered a vital part of the team, but ultimately decided to move on as a free agent. The famous saying “money talks, BS walks” may have played a role in his decision to sign with the Packers.

The departure of Josh Jacobs was particularly impactful for the team, as he had led the league with impressive stats in 2023, including 805 rushing yards and six touchdowns in just 13 games. In the year prior, he had also led the league with impressive stats, including 1,653 rushing yards and 2,053 yards from scrimmage. His talent and importance to the team were showcased throughout his time with the Raiders.

Despite his disappointment at losing such an important player, Pierce wished Josh Jacobs well in his future endeavors with the Packers.
