Spotify’s New Content Option: Video-Based Courses for UK Users

Spotify experiments with video-based educational courses in new content format

Spotify has introduced a new content option for UK users, allowing them to purchase video-based courses on a variety of topics including music creation, business and healthy living. The platform already provides access to music, podcasts, and audiobooks with new subscription options being introduced recently like audiobooks in the United States.

The video-based courses are designed to provide educational material on different themes such as music, creativity, business and health. These courses have been developed in partnership with leading educational technology companies such as BBC Maestro, PLAYvirtuoso, Skillshare and Thinkific. Users can access two lessons per course for free as part of the test in the UK with the option to purchase full access to all lessons on the platform’s website.

Spotify is committed to providing its users with new experiences and types of content. This new addition to its offerings allows educational creators to reach a wider audience through video content. Approximately half of Spotify Premium subscribers have consumed podcasts with educational or self-help topics indicating a strong interest in educational content among users.

The video-based courses will be available on both desktop and mobile versions of Spotify, giving users the flexibility to explore and purchase courses from different categories at their convenience. With this new feature, Spotify is expanding its reach into the education space while providing its users with more opportunities for personal growth and development.
